This is a great story and one that as a reader of both fantasy and the young adult/ teen genres really does appeal to me; however I do feel that due to the simplistic writing for the targeted readership of this series I have lowered my rating. Ricky's unexamined life leads to his fall and raw struggle through darkness as a drug addict and criminal. I was disappointed when it ended and look forward to the third installment. The tale is very straight forward with no side issues discussed, no use of the book as a forum for some cause or another. They've even built humans. He wants to read them over and over.
